K-9 Handler Officer Wilburn is assigned to an inner city Westward Elementary School in West Palm Beach, Florida.
What I love most about being in an inner city school, is I think back when I was a little girl never not seeing a true representation of black females in law enforcement.
I am so honored that little girls now look up to me and say when I grow up, I wanna be a police officer. As a little girl that was something that I never had. I just didn’t see successful black women being represented in law-enforcement.
Now I am a K 9 handler. I am setting a wonderful example of showing little black girls in my community that they can be anything that they set their minds and heart too.
