Sergeant Maiga Auguste
Port Saint Lucie Police Department

Sergeant Maiga Auguste was born on May 20th in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She moved with her family to New Jersey when she was 5 years old.

In September 2004, Maiga relocated to Florida. Prior to working for the Port St. Lucie Police Department, Maiga held various investigator positions. Maiga was sworn into the P.S.L.P.D. on February 8, 2007, until September 2010, because of budget cutbacks. She was recalled back to the Port St. Lucie Police Department in July 2011, where she has thrived in each role she assumed. During her tenure with the agency, Maiga has held the positions of Police Officer within Neighborhood Policing Bureau, D.A.R.T. Team, Detective within Criminal Investigations Division, and Acting N.P.B. Sergeant.  As Maiga worked for the agency, she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management in Public Safety at Indian River State College in 2012. Additionally, it should also be noted that Maiga became a published author, while working at the P.S.L.P.D., established a nonprofit organization called G.E.M’s (Going the Extra Mile) of the Treasure Coast and has been an intricate part of bridging the Haitian Community and the Police Department.

Sergeant Auguste believes in pushing herself to become a better person and a leader amongst her peers, and on November 15th, 2021, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Sergeant Auguste is the FIRST Haitian/Black Female Sergeant in the history of Port St. Lucie Police Department.  Along with her normal day to day function as a Road Patrol Sergeant on the Midnight shift, Sergeant Auguste held an ancillary position as the Uniform Crime Scene Investigator Sergeant.  As of November 13th, 2023, she was temporarily reassigned to the Accountability and Accreditation Sergeant, and she was currently nominated as the Vice President of the Sergeant’s Union Board and currently holds the ancillary positions as a Field Training Sergeant.  Sergeant Auguste is also a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), the National Association of Women Law Executives (NAWLEE), Treasure Coast Haitian American Chamber of Commerce and represents her department as the liaison for the Project Bridge South Advisory Council.  Sergeant Auguste is also a TWO-time self-published author and speaker. 

Sergeant Auguste is currently working on her Master’s Degreen in Public Administration and aspires to rise through the ranks of her department.
